NEW! DEA MATE ACT:
Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required to complete 8 hours of one-time training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
Mandatory Subjects:
- 4 hours - Cultural competency and diversity, equity and inclusion
NEW! Beginning with renewals on or after January 1, 2024, all licensees are required to have 4, rather than 2, hours in cultural competency and diversity, equity and inclusion - 2 hours - Suicide prevention (within first two years of initial licensure and every 4 years thereafter)
- 2 hours - Substance use disorder
NEW! Beginning with renewals on or after January 1, 2024, all licensees are required to have 2 hours in substance use disorder - 15 hours - Area of practice
Additional requirements:
- 4 hours - Bioterrorism (one-time requirement within two years of initial licensure)
- 2 hours - Stigma, discrimination and unrecognized bias towards persons who have acquired or are at a high risk of acquiring HIV (for licensees who supervise or provide emergency medical services in a hospital or primary care)
