Workplace bullying behaviors are associated with burnout and poor psychological health, intent to leave the organization, and potentially adverse patient outcomes. Ask any nurse if he or she has heard the phrase "Nurses eat their young," and you'll get nods of sad recognition. Workplace bullying is pervasive, destructive, and negatively affects individuals, the nursing profession, the workplace, and ultimately the patients.

Workplace bullying in nursing is a complex problem with deep roots in the culture of health care. Healthcare workers have a responsibility to contribute to positively changing the culture of workplace bullying. Although individual efforts may not be enough to completely change an organization, each nurse can learn the skills necessary to address negative behaviors and create a professional, respectful, and civil workplace. After completing this course, nurses (including certified case manager nurses) will have the requisite knowledge to recognize, address, and mitigate workplace bullying and promote a respectful, supportive, and professional healthcare work environment.

CCMs - This program has been pre-approved by The Commission for Case Manager Certification to provide continuing education credit to CCM board certified case managers. The course is approved for 2 CE contact hour(s).
