Course Overview

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder that presents differently across genders. Historically, research and clinical attention have primarily focused on ADHD in boys and men, resulting in a significant knowledge gap regarding its presentation in women. This course aims to bridge that gap by examining the unique characteristics, diagnostic challenges, and personalized treatment approaches for women with ADHD. 
 

Learning Outcomes 
Upon the completion of this course, the learner should be able to:

  • Evaluate the clinical guidelines for diagnosing ADHD in adults.    
  • Distinguish the unique symptoms and presentation of ADHD in women.    
  • Distinguish cognitive overload from ADHD in women.  
  • Analyze the impact of hormonal fluctuations on ADHD symptoms and management.    
  • Apply effective screening and diagnostic tools specific to women.    
  • Distinguish the common comorbidities and co-occurring conditions in women with ADHD.  
  • Analyze the educational, occupational, and social challenges faced by women with ADHD.  
  • Evaluate individualized treatment plans that incorporate pharmacological, psychotherapeutic, and lifestyle interventions.  
     

About the Author/Presenter
