About the Author/Presenter 
Cindy K. Lybarger 
Cindy has been a pediatric nurse for over 40 years and a nurse practitioner for over 30 years. She began her career as a pediatric critical care nurse and has worked as a staff nurse,  clinical nurse specialist, diabetes nurse educator, and is currently in practice as a nurse practitioner, in the Children’s Diabetes Program at Monroe Carell, Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She holds a master's degree in child and adolescent nursing from Vanderbilt University and a post-master's certificate as a family nurse practitioner. She is certified as a diabetes care and education specialist and a family  nurse practitioner.   She was the Quality Coordinator of the American Diabetes Association-recognized education program at Monroe Carell from 2003 until she retired from that role in 2023. She holds a faculty appointment in the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Endocrinology, as senior associate. Her research interest is using technology to help teens with type 1 diabetes.  She is the author of the programmed learning course "Diabetes in Children"  through Colibri group, with the fifth edition to be released next year.
