About the Course 
Although first discovered in 1958, Monkeypox is a rare disease that has recently been seen in the European Union and is under investigation in the US by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Care providers need to be aware of the disease and the potential impact on their patient population as well as treatment options. This course will provide healthcare professionals with the knowledge necessary to be able to identify and treat the disease.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the learner will be able to: 
  • Describe the clinical presentation that should alert the clinician to the possibility of Monkeypox.
  • Protect oneself and staff when encountering a suspected case of Monkeypox.
  • Manage a patient with suspected Monkeypox. 
  • Understand available tools including vaccination in the management of Monkeypox outbreaks.
  • Use your understanding of routes of transmission and incubation period to identify other at risk individuals.
