About the Course
The purpose of this education program is to help nurses recognize signs and symptoms that indicate child abuse or maltreatment and to assist them in effectively fulfilling their roles as mandated reporters in New York State. This course fulfills the requirements for training in identifying and reporting child abuse, maltreatment, and neglect in New York.

Margaret-Ann Carno, PhD, MBA, MJ, CPNP, FAAN, has over 25 years of experience in pediatric nursing. She has worked at the bedside both in acute and critical care pediatrics and as a primary care PNP. She is nationally certified as a primary care PNP and maintains both her RN and NP license in New York State. Dr. Carno has taught both clinical and didactic content in pediatric nursing and is a frequent guest lecturer related to pediatric issues at both the undergraduate and the graduate level. She has reviewed texts related to pediatrics and medical surgical nursing and has authored two textbooks.
