About the Webinar Course

This webinar course has been previously recorded.

What does substance use and abuse look like? Can we “see” it in our clinical practices, and if not, how do we “listen” for it? This webinar explores the challenges of identifying substance use and abuse and how to offer compassionate care when advising on the health risks of abusing drugs and alcohol.  Personal case histories are presented to help learners understand what works and doesn’t work in addiction treatment and how we can guide our patients to making decisions for change.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the course, the learner will be able to:
  • Describe the subtle signs and symptoms of alcohol and drug addiction.
  • List three interventions to provide compassionate care in a clinical setting.
  • Discuss strategies that work and don’t work when dealing with addicted individuals.
  • Describe practical guidelines that may be used to help individuals make decisions for change.
