Educating and treating patients for COVID-19 is an essential component of all levels of nursing care. This webinar course provides a framework for caring for COVID-19. Current evidence-based recommendations as well as current testing recommendations, clinical presentation, and emerging therapies are discussed with links to national guidelines to promote current knowledge of dynamic issues and trends.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this webinar course, the learner will be able to:
  • Discuss current testing techniques available in suspected COVID-19 infection.
  • Recognize the currently recognized clinical presentation of the adult and child with COVID-19.
  • Identify select nutritional supplements that are emerging adjunctive therapies in COVID-19.
  • Describe select patient populations at proposed higher risk for severe COVID-19 disease.
  • Identify known, emerging therapies in the prevention, and treatment of COVID-10 infection.

About the Presenter:
Dr. Margaret A. Fitzgerald, DNP, FNP-BC, NP-C, CSP, FAAN, DCC, FNAP

Dr. Margaret Fitzgerald is the founder, president, and principal lecturer with Fitzgerald Health Education Associates, (FHEA), an international provider of nurse practitioner certification preparation and continuing education for healthcare providers. An internationally recognized presenter, Dr. Fitzgerald has provided thousands of programs for numerous professional organizations, universities, and national and state healthcare associations on a wide variety of topics including clinical pharmacology, clinical assessment, laboratory diagnosis, healthcare, and nurse practitioner practice. For more than 25 years, she has provided graduate-level pharmacology courses for NP students at a number of universities. In addition, she practices as a family nurse practitioner at the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center, Lawrence, MA. Dr. Fitzgerald also holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH, where she received the Alumni Association Award for Clinical Excellence and is also an Adjunct Associate Professor. Dr. Fitzgerald is a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee for Neighborhood Health Plan in Boston, MA.

Lisa Simani, MS, APRN, ACNP, earned her BSN from Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin, and her MSN from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan.
