About the Course
This course will provide health professionals with comprehensive information regarding pathophysiology, the etiologies, the diagnosis of, and clinical management of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). This course will also address the benefits of a multidisciplinary approach regarding the care of patients with COPD. It will stress how best the clinical can work as a team to optimize outcomes and ensure the best treatment regime for the COPD patient.
Upon the completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Describe the pathophysiology associated with COPD
- Discuss the pharmacological and non-pharmacological clinical management of patients diagnosed with COPD
- Examine how a multidisciplinary approach in the treatment of COPD can enhance communications and optimize clinical outcomes.
About the Author/Presenter
Kenneth Miller MEd, MSRT, RRT-ACCS, RRT-NPS, AE-C, FAARC has worked as a respiratory therapist for the past forty-eight years. He has worked as a staff therapist, clinical coordinator, and is currently the educational coordinator of respiratory care services at Lehigh Valley Health Network. He has presented lectures locally, regionally, and nationally on the clinical management of patients with respiratory diseases. He was awarded the fellowship of the American Association of Respiratory Care in 2016. He has a passion for the treatment and clinical management of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
