About the Course

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the learner will be able to:
  • Describe the basic components of teamwork and the progression through the stages of novice to expert utilizing the science of teamwork.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of our human biases and tendencies and their impact on personal and team performance.
  • Compare, contrast, and apply multiple approaches to managing team performance utilizing evidence-based strategies, tools, and quantitative and qualitative measurement.
  • Examine the complexities of teamwork in healthcare and apply the research of extreme teams, crisis management, and high reliability to improve performance.
  • Explore obstacles to healthy team cultures and collaboration and apply new approaches of leadership that focus on both grit (getting results) and grace (getting the talent to the table). 
About the Presenters
Kathy A. Scott, PhD, MPA, RN, FACHE, is a Partner and Co-Founder of L3 Fusion LLC established in 2019. Her firm focuses on working with executives and teams to transform traditional leadership, and clinical and business models to alternatives that will thrive in  a highly competitive environment. Dr. Scott holds a PhD in Healthcare Administration and Organizational Systems,  a  master’s  degree  in  Public Healthcare  Administration  and  a  bachelor’s  degree  in  Nursing;  and  is  a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Bridget Sarikas, is a Partner and Co-Founder of L3 Fusion LLC established in 2019. Her firm is focused on transformational leadership that helps individuals and organizations maneuver through the chaos and complexity of today’s organizations, and move to a healthier way of living, leading, and learning. Her current passion is to help organizations and teams to be more operationally effective and, thus, become more professionally satisfied. Bridget is also a co-author of Amazon’s bestselling book “Stupid Gone Viral – When Science and Reality Collide,” a new approach to leadership that helps individuals develop their own path to success that ensures they are NEVER underestimated as a leader!

Leana Delle McGuire, BS, RN, is an RN with 30 years in healthcare, including critical care, heart transplantation and management. She has been teaching for 12 of those years with extensive experience in leadership development and executive coaching. Leana also has a background in content development, visual performance, speaking (including on the TEDx stage) and podcast hosting - both personal podcasts and corporate productions for various organizations. 

How to Receive Credit  
  • View the entire course which requires a 10-hour commitment of time.
  • At the end of the course, answer the Yes/No Affirmation question to indicate that you have completed the educational activity.
  • Specific to Florida: A mandatory Final Examination with a passing score of 70% or higher is required. Exam questions link content to the course Learning Objectives as a method to enhance individualized learning and material retention.
