Welcome Speech-Language Pathologists!
A message from the SLP Planner for Western Schools:
Western Schools has a distinguished track record as a CE provider in the healthcare arena. As we thought about extending into communication sciences and disorders, we knew that we needed to find a niche where we could meet the real needs of practicing SLPs. So we went to the real experts – you – to find out what we could do to make your lives easier.
From market research, one fact was inescapable: professional practice issues—documentation, reimbursement, ethics, counseling, and the like—have huge effects both on clinicians’ effectiveness and their career satisfaction. And while there are many options for CE on disorders and interventions, professional issues receive less attention.
So, we found our focus: helping SLPs acquire knowledge and skills in critically important but non-clinical aspects of practice.
In the future, we’ll also address those areas where speech-language pathology intersects with related professions. We’ll adapt courses from Western Schools’ extensive lists for psychologists, nurses, OTs, PTs, and others to help you enhance your capacity for effective inter-professional practice.
Finally, we’ll examine different practice settings, with attention to the needs of clinicians who want to make a setting change.
As we roll out our courses, you’ll always find up-to-date information provided by skilled instructors, with content tied to the world of practice through case studies, vignettes, or sample problems.
And the best part is, we are just getting started! We have some great ideas and are working hard to ensure that we provide the best continuing education experience for every SLP every time. We welcome your help – if you have any suggestions or feedback for us, we want to hear from you. Please email SLP@westernschools.com or visit us on Facebook to share your thoughts.
Thanks for reading and happy learning!
