Brita O'Carroll
Brita M. O’Carroll, RN, BS, MEd, CPUR, was educated at Duke University, Columbia University, New York University and the University of North Florida. She has experience in clinical nursing, health information management, as an educator, a regional director for emergency medical services, international research and is a published freelance writer. Ms. O’Carroll has made presentations at national and international conferences and is a Fellow in the Royal Society for the Promotion of Health and the International Council on Alcohol and Addictions.
Judy Mikhail
Judy Mikhail, RN, MSN, MBA, is Administrator for Trauma Services, Operating Room and Anesthesia at Hurley
Medical Center, Flint, Michigan. She has 10 years of experience as Trauma Program Manager for a Level I
Trauma Center as well as another 10 years of experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist for trauma and critical
care. Ms. Mikhail is an adjunct instructor at the University of Michigan-Flint School of Nursing, BSN Program.
She has served as President of the Society of Trauma Nurses and The Michigan Trauma Coalition. She was
selected by two consecutive Michigan Governors to serve on the Michigan Trauma Commission and the Michigan
Trauma EMS Subcommittee. Ms. Mikhail has published numerous articles and speaks nationally on trauma related
topics. Judy Mikhail has disclosed that she has no significant financial or other conflicts of interest pertaining to this course book.
